Satellites, Scotch and Paint-shakers

I just returned from the FalconSAT 3 Qualification Model test campaign at Kirtland AFB, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The test went as our Dutch-born, British educated resident genius would say, "brilliantly." My team arrived on Thursday afternoon and we began work immediately, taking over for the previous team. We finished mounting the spacecraft to our test stand, which amounts to a 5-foot subwoofer that can vibrate at many frequencies and amplitudes.

We proceeded with our tests in a variety of positionings and using different techniques. Basically, though, we induced a 15-g, 30 hertz and below vibration that tests the spacecraft integrity for the launch environment. In between tests, my team and I had to affix new sensors, and remount the spacecraft in different orientations. We spent many hours on our backs, torque-wrench in and, bolts between our teeth. It's like working on a really expensive car!

That's all I'll write for now. I'll add more about the trip later, to include some really cool pictures!
